A Weekend in Hobart…Convicts, Lost Souls, Bushfires and Doomsday Preppers?

20160311_111851.jpgTim and Lola had rung to say they were going to Hobart for the long weekend and wondered whether we’d like to join them. It took all of two seconds to say ‘yes’. I’d been there three years ago and loved it so much that I made it the main setting for book two, ‘Capturing’ in ‘The Lost Woman’ trilogy. I couldn’t wait to get back.

Pull-Apart Dinner Rolls and Poppy Seed Crackers.

IMG_9922[1]These rolls and crackers use the same dough base but produce two very different yummy treats…both are ridiculously easy.

I was motivated to make them because I’d learnt how to harvest poppy seeds over the weekend. Read the rest of this entry »

Giorgio Locatelli you would love this Porchetta!

What’s the most surprising birthday gift you’ve received?

IMG_7146[1]This year I had a brilliant birthday and thought I’d share with you some of the treats I received. My friends and family know I love things that are small, practical, can be shared, consumed or are an experience that cannot be wrapped…

I woke up Saturday morning and my husband handed me a little white box. Inside were a pair of gorgeous black teardrop pearl earrings.

Something small.

He’d chosen well, he knows my taste… he knows me better than anybody. Read the rest of this entry »

Clare Valley and maybe the destination of my new heroine?

IMG_4285 I returned recently to South Australia to celebrate both my sister’s birthday and a belated mothers day¬†with my mum. A trip to the Clare Valley would be my treat and a far better gift than chocolates or lavender-scented perfume.

The new book I’ve been going on about begins on a small island in the Chesapeake Bay, Virginia, on the East Coast of America. Eventually my heroine ends up in Australia and possibly stumbling across the mansion made famous in the iconic film ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’. The stately pile, above, can be found just outside the historic town of Mintaro in the wine growing district of the Clare Valley in South Australia. Read the rest of this entry »
