Sailing the Whitsundays (part 3)… a day on the Island and farewell.

IMG_8155[1]We’d booked a berth at the Hamilton Island marina thinking it might be interesting to see what the place had to offer. That was at the beginning of our trip. Since then we’d been at sea for 6 nights and had settled into this boaty existence so well that we were a little reluctant to head to land.

Honestly I wasn’t expecting much… some tacky resort aging badly after its hey day in the late 80’s, overpriced beach wear, ridiculously expensive souvenirs and glitzy hotels.

Top 5 kitchen gadgets.

IMG_6919[1]Mine is a hard working and practical kitchen. ┬áMy husband calls it my office and I don’t mind because I bloody LOVE to cook. It is a small and highly functional work space that I’m loathe to fill with ornamentation and gadgetry. I have favorite pots, pans, mixing bowls and utensils, but today I thought I’d focus on those CHOPPING and MIXING gadgets that make food preparation SO much quicker and easier.

But before we get started I thought I’d show you a picture of the student house (and kitchen) I lived in when I moved out of home at the tender age of 17…(and what a bloody contrast it is to the home I have now!). Read the rest of this entry »
