That Featherston Chair

ContourChair2831

If you love that chair on the front cover of AWAKENING the lost woman and you are in Melbourne then you are in luck…….

The National Gallery of Victoria is currently having an exhibition of mid century modern furniture.

Cheekily I rang the gallery, stupidly thinking a book about Melbourne, with a picture of that iconic chair might just be the kind of souvenir they could sell in the gallery shop during the exhibition. I got through to the purchaser of books and was very firmly put in my place and told ‘we do not sell fiction’. Oh well, in the cut throat world of self publishing anything is worth a try!

We went along anyway and marveled, cringed and even got sentimental about the pieces on show. The absolute stand out designs were those of Grant Featherston, the designer of the chair on the cover of ‘Awakening’.

Thought you might like to see some shots of this stunning exhibition…

You might want to be nice to your Nanna and see if she has any of these now very valuable Australian icons of furniture design that she no longer wants.
